Bring Back Big Families

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?

BRING BACK BIG FAMILIES

This one was very easy actually and pretty obvious when you think about it.

I know they’re not for everyone, but we need more big families. My doctor and I had a good conversation last week about big families, and she talked about how couples who only have one kid don’t even replace themselves in the population. It makes sense when you think about it. Two parents, one kid, when the parents die, 3 – 2 = 1. Net loss of one person. With two kids, at least the couple replaces themselves, but the population doesn’t actually grow. It is only through bigger families that the population actually increases. It’s an interesting thing to think about.

I know there are lots of opinions on both sides of the matter. For me, it boils down to doing whatever works best for you. For me and my wife, it’s having kids, and lots of them. That may not be in the cards for everyone, but if you can, have lots of kids and love them and raise them to be better than you. We need more good people in this world, and we will only get more of them if we have more of them.
