Random Musings #4

I envy people who live where it snows frequently. I love the snow. It’s one of my all time favorite things in the world, something I’ve seen only a handful of times in my life, seeing as how we got snow exactly one time that I can remember growing up (it was truly epic when it happened) and only a handful of times have we gotten any measurable snow in the time I’ve been an adult.

There’s also something incredibly special about watching children playing in the snow. It’s such a pure and joyful scene.

Back in one of my other posts, I had a picture of a house covered in snow and captioned it with imagining my family Christmas there:

Well, it wasn’t Christmas, but we did get enough snow in my neck of the woods on Monday night to close down schools for two days on the heels of MLK, Jr. day.

So, a five day weekend spent outside playing with my kids in the snow is just about the best thing any of us could’ve asked for at this time of year.

About as good as a snowman gets around here!

I know it would be nice to have snow a lot more often than every three or four (or sometimes more) years. But I think that’s what makes it extra special when it does happen here. The fact that it doesn’t come often is what makes it truly a special treat.

And it’s also an awesome experience watching my children interact with something they’ve only seen one or two times in their lifetimes. That’s a pretty magical thing.

So the five day weekend may have come and gone just as quickly as the snow melted away (and as quickly as the 70s return this weekend). But the memories we made while it was here are something that can never leave us.

Here’s to more snow soon enough! And maybe another five day weekend for good measure!
