Fourteen: I’ll Be Back

Woke the kids up early to see what the Easter bunny left.

Went to sunrise mass to worship and receive the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our risen Lord and Savior.

Came home to hide Easter eggs all over the back yard.

Watched all my kids hunt those Easter eggs, count the candies they got in them, bust confetti eggs on each other’s heads (and mine), and play our annual Easter confetti egg baseball game.

Smiled watching my wife in her gorgeous Easter dress carrying number six.

Fired up the Po Man grill and tossed on some chicken breasts for lunch.

As I type this, the smell of the chicken breasts wafts over me as I sit in the shade while a breeze blows over me.

Ask me if I believe heaven is real. I know it is.

I’m already seeing it today.

P. S. Our priest this morning told the story of a little girl who was asked by her CCD teacher what Jesus’s last words on the cross were. She eagerly raised her hand and said she knew the answer. Confidently, she said, “Jesus’s last words on the cross were: I’ll be back.”

The wisdom of children is astonishing.

Happy Easter to whoever is seeing this. Know that Jesus is risen, and He rose so we could be with Him again.
