Random Musings #10

This morning, amidst the hum of a busy household and endless questions about what we would be doing today, I took a few quiet moments to reflect on the value of freedom. Today, July 4th, 2025, everything, from X posts to the afternoon MLB game between the Red Sox and National on TV right now to the red, white, and blue dotting our neighborhood, feels charged with the spirit of independence, and I find myself deeply grateful for the life I’m able to build in this country. Raising a big family, the chaotic, the joyful, and the moments full of love, is no small task, but the freedom to do so as I see fit is a gift I try not to take for granted.

In this nation, I have the space to shape my family’s values, to teach my kids what matters to us, and to navigate the beautiful mess of parenthood on our own terms. That liberty to raise them with the traditions, beliefs, and rhythms that feel right is a quiet but profound privilege.

Today, I’m holding that close, thankful for a country that, for all its complexities, messes, errors, and flaws, grants me the chance to build this life, surrounded by the laughter and love of my big family.
