“I’m a boy mom!”

“I’m a girl dad!”

Gag me already. You’re a mom. You’re a dad. You’re a parent. Stop with this garbage.
Being a parent isn’t about trendy labels like “boy mom” or “girl dad.” It’s about the real, messy, incredible work of raising a human. Those terms are just social media fluff, boxing parents into cutesy categories that don’t capture the full picture. You’re not defined by your kid’s gender or some stupid hashtag. You’re a parent, period.
Parenting is showing up every day, ready to guide your kid through life’s ups and downs. It’s teaching them to be kind, to stand up after a fall, and to think for themselves. It’s listening when they’re upset, cheering their victories, and knowing when to step back, even when it’s tough.
It’s embracing the chaos of spilled juice, endless “whys,” and sleepless nights when you’re too tired to think straight. There’s no perfect formula, just you adapting to your kid’s unique needs, day after day. Forget the “boy mom” or “girl dad” merch and stereotypes. They’re distractions from the real job.
Being a parent means loving fiercely, no matter what. It’s being their safe place, their biggest fan, their steady hand. You don’t need a dumb, catchy, Insta-ready label to do that. You just need to be there, fully, for them.
So stop this “boy mom,” “girl dad” nonsense. Be mom. Be dad. That’s enough.
