Forty-Three: Merry Christmas 2025

As I sat in Midnight Mass early this very morning with my two oldest (another tradition is for them to attend Midnight Mass with me when they turn nine. I don’t know why nine exactly, but that’s when my oldest first went, so my oldest son turned nine this year, so he went. New tradition unlocked), I wanted desperately to get a picture of the crèche by the side altar after Mass ended.

Sadly, no such luck. I wanted to share the beauty of it here with my few readers as my Christmas gift to you.

Instead, I’ll share the beauty of God’s word from the First Reading. I don’t know why these few words from the beginning of the reading struck me in the chest as much as they did, but they really got to me and got me to thinking how lucky we all are that The Light came into our darkened world.

And so, this is my simple Christmas gift to my readers. It is small. It is simple. But it is from my heart. Maybe a little late in the day, but it is my gift to you nonetheless along with a simple reflection and prayer for all of you:

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.”

Isaiah 9:2

Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

The Light is here in the darkness! May His light shine brightly on you this Christmas season! Praying for all of you and asking God to give you everything you deserve in accordance with His will!

Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas from our big family!

Nothing like a Mass at midnight. This is not the church we attended, but it’s almost as beautiful.

  1. Wishing it was Christmas morning again! Midnight Mass will always be the one mass I look forward to most during the year.
